A Korean Air Lines executive has resigned amid mounting public criticism after she delayed a flight in a row over how she was served macadamia nuts.
Company officials said the chairman, Cho Yang-ho, had accepted the resignation of Cho Hyun-ah, his eldest daughter and an executive vice-president.
Last Friday, according to reports, the junior Cho ordered a senior crew member off a Korean Air Lines plane that was preparing for takeoff at New York’s JFK airport after she was served macadamia nuts in a bag instead of on a plate. The plane had to return to the gate.
The airline had apologised for the inconvenience to passengers, but said it was “natural” for Cho to fault the crew’s ignorance of procedures.
